Step1. Inquiry

If you are interested in our filing service of a patent application, please use the contact form to communicate with us. It's also possible to contact us by e-mail or facsimile. When sending an email or a facsimile, please clearly state your contact information as it is for the contact form. Upon receiving your inquiry, we will send a response to you generally within one business day.

Cost estimation

If the preliminary cost-estimation is necessary, please inform us of the following information. In addition, if application documents are written in English or Japanese, please use a Fee Estimation Calculator. It can calculate the cost estimation of the patent application fee including the translation fee.

(1) PCT route or Paris convention route
(2) Days until the deadline for filing application
(3) Language used in application documents which will be provided to us
(4) Number of words of said application documents (if the language used in application documents isn't Japanese)
(5) Number of drawings
(6) Necessity of the request for examination upon filing of the patent application and the number of claims in case that you hope to file the request for the extimation.
(7) The number of words of the claims in the amendment under Article 19 or Article 34 and the number of words of the explanation about the basis of the amendment.
(if the amendment under Article 19 or Article 34 was filed in international phases and you hope to reflect the amendment on national phases)

Step2.

If you request for filing of the patent application, please send us an information sheet shown in Documents for filing by an e-mail or a facsimile. Information sheet is used to prepare the application request for Japan Patent Office.

Verification procedure of request

If a first-time customer requests us, we will prepare the confirmation of the request to confirm the content of the request and will transmit it to the customer by a facsimile. We usually transmit the confirmation of the request within one business day after the request. Furthermore, we will wait for the return facsimile or the return e-mail to prevent from the occurrence of the accident caused by a miscommunication.

If you receive the confirmation of the request, please sign it and return it to us. When we received the executed confirmation, we stamped it with a receipt stamp and return it to you to inform of our receipt.

When we receive the executed confirmation, we will formally accept the request and will commence the management of the request. Therefore, if the confirmation doesn't come to you after your request or if the stamped confirmation doesn't come to you after your return of the executed confirmation, please contact us.

Step3. Transmittal of patent application document

Please send to us necessary documents showed in Documents for filing upon or after the request in Step 2. These documents are necessary for filing of the patent application or for entering into the national phase.

In addition, please send necessary documents to us so that we can receive all of them by 3 business days before the due date in the case of either of number (1) to (3). If we couldn't receive necessary documents by 3 business days before the due date, we will charge you for the rapid filing surcharge.

(1) In case of the PCT application
(2) In case that the basic application is written in English in Paris convention route
(3) In case that you translated patent application documents of the basic application into Japanese by yourselves in Paris convention route

However, if the basic application is written in other language than English or Japanese and if you are planning to request us to translate patent application documents into Japanese, please request us by one month before the due date at the latest.

Step4. Procedure to Japan Patent Office

We perform the procedure to JPO as soon as we receive all necessary documents. When the procedure for filing of the patent application or for entering into the national phase is completed, we will send the filing completion report to you by facsimile on the same day. Afterward, we will send to you copies of documents submitted to JPO.
